iShared.app vs. WeTransfer

A factual, plan-by-plan comparison of pricing, transfer limits, and team features - sourced from each provider's own current pricing page.

WeTransfer is probably the most recognized name in file transfer, and it's a reasonable tool - this page compares it against iShared.app plan-by-plan, using WeTransfer's own published pricing rather than estimates. Pricing shown is in GBP as displayed on WeTransfer's pricing page at the time of writing; both providers' pricing can change, so check each provider's current page before deciding.

Free plans

iShared.app Free WeTransfer Free
Price £0 £0
Transfer size 10MB per transfer Up to 3GB total, per month
Transfers No monthly cap 10 per month
Link expiry 3 days Up to 3 days
Commercial use Allowed Non-commercial only

WeTransfer's free tier allows more total volume per month. iShared.app's free tier is smaller but has no monthly transfer-count cap and doesn't restrict commercial use - useful if you're sending small files for work rather than personal use.

Entry-level paid plans

iShared.app Personal WeTransfer Starter
Price £3/month £8/month
Transfer size 3GB per transfer 300GB total, per month
Transfers No monthly cap 10 per month
Link expiry Up to 365 days Up to 3 days

These solve different problems. WeTransfer Starter gives you a much larger monthly volume budget (300GB) split across up to 10 transfers, each still expiring within 3 days. iShared.app Personal is cheaper and gives a longer expiry window (up to a year) with no monthly cap, but each individual transfer is capped at 3GB.

Unlimited-size individual use

WeTransfer's Ultimate plan (£21/month) removes the size and transfer-count limits entirely for a single user, with unlimited expiry and custom branding. iShared.app doesn't have an uncapped individual tier - the largest per-transfer limit available to a single person is Enterprise's 100GB (£8/month for one seat), which also includes single sign-on and a custom domain, features aimed more at organizations than solo use.

Team plans

iShared.app Team WeTransfer Teams
Price £5/seat/month £18/user/month (2-user minimum)
Seats Up to 15 Up to 50
Transfer size 10GB per transfer Unlimited
Download tracking Included Not listed as a feature

iShared.app Team is priced well below WeTransfer Teams per seat, with download tracking built in - useful for confirming a client actually received a deliverable. WeTransfer Teams supports more members per team (50 vs. 15) and unlimited transfer size, which matters more for teams routinely sending very large or uncapped files.

Enterprise

Both providers offer a custom-priced Enterprise tier with single sign-on. iShared.app's Enterprise plan additionally includes SCIM user provisioning, a claimable custom domain, and organization-wide audit logging as standard, listed features rather than a custom add-on - see the SSO setup guides for what that looks like in practice.

What WeTransfer offers that iShared.app doesn't

In the interest of a fair comparison: WeTransfer's paid plans include automatic malware scanning on uploads and a "sell files and receive payment" feature for charging for downloads. Neither is currently part of iShared.app.

Bottom line

If you need a large amount of monthly volume on a cheap plan, or an uncapped individual tier, WeTransfer's Starter and Ultimate plans cover that better. If you want a longer link expiry by default, per-transfer (not monthly) limits, and lower per-seat team pricing with download tracking included, iShared.app is the better fit.
