How to send large files by email
Skip the attachment size limit - upload once, and we'll email your recipient a secure download link with an optional message.
Most email providers cap attachments at around 20-25MB, which rules out almost anything but a document or a couple of photos. iShared.app works around that by separating the file from the email entirely: you upload once, we generate a secure link, and that link - not the file itself - is what gets emailed.
How it works
- Drop your files or folder into the box on the homepage.
- Add the recipient's email address.
- Optionally add a short message - a line of context, same as you'd write in the email body yourself.
- Pick how long the link should stay live.
- Review and send.
Your recipient gets an email with the link and your message, if you added one. They click through and download directly - no account required on their end.
What they see
The email is a straightforward notification: who it's from, your optional message, and a button to the download page. It's not a marketing email and doesn't carry anything beyond what you gave it.
Sending to more than one person
You can address a transfer to more than one recipient at send time - everyone you add gets the same link and the same message by email.
If they've lost the email
The link itself still works for anyone who has it, right up until it expires. Right after a transfer finishes, the confirmation screen lets you send that same link to another address without re-uploading anything - handy if you mistyped an address or want to loop in one more person on the spot.
